Dr. Bhat has around 30 years of experience in various technical fields including Food testing, R&D Quality Assurance and Food Regulations both in Nestlé and outside Nestlé.

Soon after completing his Ph.D, he joined Nestlé Research Centre in Switzerland as a Research Scientist.  He is one of the very few Indians who returned to serve their motherland Bharat.

After establishing a NABL accredited regional food testing laboratory for the South Asia Region in Moga, Dr. Bhat, in 2003, moved to Nestlé India Head office to set up a Food Regulatory Department in Nestle India. He passionately trained many food technologists and science graduates to create a pool of regulatory experts who are now heading food regulatory departments in various organizations.

In 2016, he further moved back to Nestlé R&D Centre to get the organization ISO certification. Later he became head of Nestlé Food Safety Institute at Manesar.

While working in Nestlé, he was recognised as an expert in regulatory aspects and FSSAI has made him part of certain committees and sub-committees.

Further, he was one of the empanelled auditors of NABL for many years and also a member of the NABL accreditation committee for two terms.

After retiring from Nestlé, he decided to share his vast knowledge in the field of food regulations with the food industry and professionals. His primary goal is to raise awareness among the food business operators about the importance of rules and regulations of FSSAI and to provide comprehensive support to all the stakeholders including FBOs to stay in compliance at every step as per guidelines provided by FSSAI.  He would like to see Indian Food regulations made simpler but implemented in a better manner focussing more on the food safety than standards.
